What to see and do from The Braighe
The Braighe is ideally placed within a 5 minute walk from the sea and Nairn Golf Club is just 5 minutes away by car. Nairn Golf Club hosted the Walker Cup in 1999 and it has also hosted the Curtis Cup.
Nearby is the Castle Stuart Golf Club which hosted the Scottish Open Golf championships and there are 30 golf courses within an hour's drive from Nairn including the "Gleneagles of the North" at Boat of Garten.
Discover some of the little unknown links courses including one where golfers have to wait at high tide at the "19th hole" until they can play the 18th hole!
The Braighe is ideally situated for the avid golfer or for the whisky connoisseurs as the Speyside Malt Whisky distilleries are an hour's drive away.
We have a local driver who would take you touring to save you driving for a day - just let us know about this.
Cawdor Castle, Fort George and Brodie Castle are also not far away and near Inverness, you will find the stunning Standing Stones and Megalithic Cairns of Balnuaran of Clava by Culloden Battlefield.
Maybe you want to follow in the foorsteps of Diana Gabaldon and visit places which have inspired her books? They aren't far from The Braighe!
Day trips can easily be done from Nairn to such places such as to see the awesome castle and gardens at Crathes near Balmoral Castle, or perhaps a trip to the stunning and rugged NW coast and NC 500 or perhaps a trip to the Isle of Skye.
Another interesting day trip would be down Loch Ness and along past the famous and well photographed Eilean Donan Castle and then back via Strath Carron and Loch Carron.
Perhaps check out Glen Affric and do some hiking there as it is remote, very peaceful and is stunning.
Maybe investigate some old cathedrals and Biblical gardens or go shopping for cashmere to a local factory outlet?
The list is endless but Marie and Blair can help and advise you and if you need a good local restaurant on your return, we can book an evening meal for you - just let us know and we will be delighted to help.
